Frequently asked questions

The Can Geo Challenge is a fun program and competition for all students. Not sure where to start or have a question? Please see our FAQ below or email us at [email protected].

Questions about registering and your account

1) How do I sign up my students?
A. Through the Quiz Launcher page, you can either upload students individually or by using the class list template.

2) Can I use my account from last year?
A. Yes. If you participated in last year's Challenge, simply log in using your information. Make sure to edit and update your account information. You can create a new account and register your students here.

3) I want to register my entire class. Is there an easy way to add all my students all at once?
A. Yes. You have the option to add individual students or import an excel list of your students.

4) Can I have more than one student competing at the same time online?
A. Yes. Once you sign into your account and access the quiz launcher page, you should see your list of students. When taking the Challenge online, each student has their own URL for each round. All you need to do is share the URL with your students and they will be able to access the questions. You will need to share a URL for each round to every student.

5) I don’t remember my password. How do I reset it?
A. You can reset your password by clicking here.

6) Do I have to participate online only?
A. No, you can complete the Challenge either online or on paper (for Level 2 students who move on to the Provincial/Territorial and National rounds, there are different expectations). We are aware that not all schools have access to the same types of technology and we endeavour to provide you with options. Once you sign in you will see the option to either upload your students to the online portal or download PDFs of the questions and distribute paper copies.

7) If I choose to administer the Challenge on paper, how can I access the answers for the test?
A. In an effort to prevent potential cheating, we've asked that teachers contact us directly to receive a copy of the answer sheets. Please email [email protected] to receive the answer sheets that you need.

Questions about the Classroom and School rounds and School Champions

8) How do I identify my School Champion?
A. On your Quiz Launcher page you will be able to edit your students’ details by clicking on the student you wish to name school winner, selecting the “View/edit Student | View Student Quizzes”. When you are on your student's details page please click “Edit” at the top so you can edit your student's information. Next, click on the box to identify this student as your school winner.

9) Can I do the Classroom round online and the School round on paper?
A. Yes. As always, you are able to administer the Can Geo Challenge in whatever way works best for you and your students.

10) While completing the Challenge online my internet connection froze. What do I do?
A. Sign back into your account and try to launch the round again. The round should re-launch at the correct space. If it does not, or if it froze in the middle of the round, contact us and we can re-set your student’s account.
