Level 1 is open to students in grades 4-6. It focuses on developing fundamental geographic knowledge and skills and igniting passion in students’ early academic careers. Students participate in the Classroom and School rounds, finishing the competition by naming one School Champion.
All questions in the Classroom and School rounds are multiple choice and cover an array of geographic topics.
All School Champions receive a certificate, a special issue publication and/or map from Canadian Geographic, and a one-year magazine subscription to the Canadian Geographic magazine.

April 17, 2026
Deadline to name all Level 1 School winners. All School winners must be identified on the Challenge website by this date in order to be eligible for a prize.
May 2026
Prizes for School winners will be sent in the mail. If teachers do not receive their prize by June 12, 2026, please contact info@cangeoeducation.ca
