World Championship

Please note: In 2015 National Geographic decided not to run a World Championship. Until otherwise instructed, Team Canada will not be selected. Check back for updates as it becomes available.

Organized by the National Geographic Society of Washington, D.C., this international geography competition is held every two years. Canada has participated in every international competition since 1995 and has done very well winning Gold in 1997 and 2009, Silver in 1999, 2001, 2011 and 2013 and Bronze in 1995, 2005 and 2007.

Canadian team members travel to the site of the World Championship for two days of competition.

Members of Team Canada travelled to St. Petersburg, Russia, the site of the World Championship, for three days of competition in July, 2013.

Team Canada is accompanied by a teacher-member of Canadian Geographic Education.
