Key dates

The Canadian Geographic Challenge happens throughout the school year. Students, classrooms and schools can start as soon as they sign-up. Here are the competition deadlines:

October 2019  

Registration for the Can Geo Challenge Levels 1 and 2 opens and questions are posted

November 2020

 

Registration for the Can Geo Challenge Level 3 opens

February 21, 2020

 

Phase 1 of Level 3 must be completed

February 26, 2020

 

Top 20 finalists from Level 3's Phase 1 will be emailed to participate in Phase 2

March 2, 2020  

Deadline to name all Level 2 school winners.

Any Level 2 school champion not identified by this date will not be eligible for the Provincial/Territorial Challenge of the competition to determine the National Finalists.

March 5-30, 2020

 

Level 2 Provincial/Territorial Challenge available online.

All Level 2 school winners are eligible

March 30, 2020

 

Level 3 Top 20 finalists must have submitted their Phase 2 test. 

April 1 to 3, 2020

  Provincial/Territorial tie-breakers (if necessary)

April 6, 2020

 

Level 3 Top 6 finalists will be notified for Phase 3, an interview with the Team Canada leaders

April 16, 2020

 

National Finalists (Level 2) are notified

April 30, 2020

 

Deadline to identify all Level 1 school winners in order to receive their prize. Names entered after this day will not be eligible for a prize.

April 30 to June 10, 2020

 

All school winners will be receiving their medals and certificates by mail. If you do not receive your prize by June 10, 2020, please contact [email protected].

May 1, 2020

  Can Geo Challenge top 5 National Finalists go on One Ocean Expeditions Fins and Fiddles voyage.
